LICENSURE

The North Carolina Board of Funeral Service is responsible for determining the qualifications of applicants and issuing certificates to those determined to be properly qualified. It is unlawful for any person to practice funeral service, funeral directing or embalming in North Carolina unless one has been duly licensed. In order to be licensed to practice in North Carolina, an individual, in addition to paying the required fees, must be of good character and reputation, must satisfactorily pass the examinations by the Board and must submit evidence of education, and a successfully complete one year of supervised apprenticeship.
