TRAINEE SUPERVISOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Purpose and goals- To instruct the licensee who is seeking
to be a trainee supervisor by offering a 2 hour course of instruction that will
be approved for CE credit. This course will make clear the requirements of the supervisor
to oversee the development of trainees registered to them.
- Purpose
of the traineeship- To develop an individual's practical understanding and
application of the work experiences in a funeral establishment in order
that when licensed they can fulfill the functions of the license held. The
traineeship is to complement the academic requirements. It is NOT for
cheap labor who may be assigned to simply participate in building
maintenance, vehicle maintenance, etc. On certification, ideally the trainee
should be able to perform the duties without supervision.
- Review
of laws, rules and policies related to trainees
- Full
time traineeship and part time traineeship
- Train
on how to properly complete case reports and monthly reports
- Review
of work required to be counted as a “case” to meet the 25 case requirement
- Review
filing deadlines
- Random
checks comparing case reports to monthly reports to ensure accuracy with
emphasis that the supervisor is confirming the work.
- Discuss
supervisor/licensee to be present when training work is done: in embalming
room to supervise procedures, meetings with families, assigned to work the
same funeral, memorial services.
- Compliance
with state laws related to the practice of funeral service and cremation.
- Training
on compliance with death registration documents
- Training
on compliance with FTC Funeral Rule
- Training
on how to make arrangements and professionally and thoroughly explain
services and merchandise offered by the establishment.
